I haven’t been up for posting lately because I got a monster flu that rendered me useless for about 2.5 weeks. I have been trying to play catch up with everything and will hopefully be ahead of everything soon.

I had some new tutorials to upload before I got sick so expect those to be up soon. Other tutorials will follow.

Well, I made this for fun. If you are looking at Joomla as a possible solution this gives you a very quick overview of using Joomla as a Super Administrator. See Joomla in action as I demonstrate:

Joomla 1.5 beta release

Today is the day Joomla 1.5 Beta is to be released. Let's hope all the testing and components migration goes well and with ease. The release is exciting news but everyone should proceed with caution. Just some things to think about before installing Joomla 1.5 beta on your live site.

* It is beta software! I know open source beta software is sometimes more stable than the stable release of commercial software but you should wait for a more mature version before installing it on a live site.

* There have been A LOT of changes. This is not a small release upgrade. What that means to you is not all you components and modules may work on this new release. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just give the developers of your components and modules time to catch up.

I know some of you will undoubtedly install Joomla 1.5 beta on your live server anyway so just know what you are getting yourself into. You early adopters will move the testing along quickly if you give the developers good feedback. Just remember that feedback is good but belligerence is not. Most of the devs are providing their great work free to you me and everyone else so be courteous. :)

I started the OpenSEF video tutorials and have made them available on joomlaphile.com but after I visited the OpenSEF website I have noticed that a new version will be available within the month so i will wait for the new version before I finish.

Open Source CMS Final Five Announced

Ok, so the final five from the packt publishing contest were announced in September. Listed here in alphabetical order:
Drupal, e107, Joomla!, Plone, Xoops

I couldn't help but noticed that they are all based on php except for plone which is based mainly on python. Popularity wins the day! :)

I made some site changes recently and hopefully everything will now work seemlessly. :) Well, we'll see. For now you should know that if you made a post to the forums or created an account in the past week your post and account are probably lost. I was able to retain most everything but some things managed to slip through the cracks. If you still need your question answered simply sign up and post your question again.
